This Simple Tactic Drove 1M+ Users To My Clients' Sites

My digital PR team had been building quality backlinks to its sites for years, but it was time to step things up. We’d had a lot of success with geographic-focused campaigns, but we needed to branch out to amplify our results.

As the Digital PR Lead in my previous role, it was my job to identify new tactics, test them, and teach the team how to implement them on their respective sites.

I noticed a viral story about Netflix’s search to find someone who they would pay to watch their content for quality control purposes, and decided we should test the “dream job” formula on our sites.

I created a campaign where our streaming platform comparison site posted a job for a professional binge-watcher. This person would be tasked with watching 100 hours of live-streamed TV on different platforms and report on their experience. Because this was a new tactic, I structured the “job” so that we would, at the very least, find someone who could provide useful proprietary data if we didn’t earn coverage.

This first “dream job” earned 200 backlinks from sites like GQ, Thrillist, and other well-known digital publications in the entertainment space. I worked with our junior digital PR specialists to implement similar campaigns on their sites, which resulted in thousands of links and over one million of referred visitors for Clealrink’s websites.
